A common guy ... with common sense ... and an uncommon commitment to public service!

Hello, my Friends!

Isn't it true? That the Founding Fathers identified that the "bicameral" design of the Legislative branch of government needed a place where "common folks" could have a say in national affairs?

You bet it's true, and that's why we have the House of Representatives. The idea is that local folks have their own voice up in Washington, their friend, their neighbor, who knows them, and cares about them like nobody else does. I'm told that's why the term of office is only two years; that way, the working man or woman who wanted to represent their neighbors could do so without having to leave the business, the farm, or the job for such a long time that it would be a hardship.

Serving in the House of Representatives was an honorable, attainable way for regular, working people to offer community service to their neighbors.

But look what's happened. It seems that our House of Representatives, our "People's House," has become a place for career politicians to act out embarassing scenes of partisan warfare. Now, don't get me wrong... this is not a swipe at politicians, or partisan politics, for that matter. But...

Let's be Real!

Congress provides the oversight to the federal agencies that they fund, including those that respond to disasters, and those that provide for the public safety. These days, the ability of our federal government to respond to these disasters and secure the public safety appears pathetic. Our dependance on oil is out of control, and this dependance lays the foundation for many of our national problems. Our precious natural resources, our natural treasures, are offered up on altars of development and sprawl. Our children are having babies  at such a rate that we simply have come to expect it. Illegal immigration has become a threat to our national security. We are engaged in an unpopular war, with no clear objective or end point. Our status among our world neighbors, including our allies, continues to fall. And the approval rate of Congress is at an all-time low.

And the folks that carry this country, working people like us, become more and more disenfranchised from our political process.

And that's why I'm running for Congress. I am at a point in my life where I have the ability, the determination, and the resources to do it. I want to serve. I feel that it's time for folks like us to get involved in politics at the national level. I think it's time for folks like us to start applying common sense to our national agenda, like only we know how. It's time for Washington to start listening, sure; but it's also time for us to start talking!

Don't YOU think it's time?

Thank you for visiting my campaign. Take a look around. I think you'll agree with me!
